Crash and burn

I have a boo boo. And it hurts. And its still getting fizzy when I put peroxide on it.

In preperation for my annual big ride around Council Bluffs, I decided I needed to spend some time on my bike. So after work Sunday, Chris and I grabbed our gear and went out for a few miles to make sure the bike still liked us and wouldn't throw me off on Sunday morning.

After cruzing along at a pretty good clip for a few miles we were coming to the end of the trail that is right behind the apartment. Plans were to turn around there and then find a new, inventive way to come back around home. Right as I got to the end of the trail, my shoes got stuck on the straps that are on my pedals and there was no giving. In slow motion, I fell over.

It's been a long time since I've fallen off my bike. It hasn't gotten any softer since I was younger - I have, but the cement has not.

But, we still had to get home. So I had Chris squirt a little water on it towas off some of the blood and we rode up the hill back to the apartment.

My shoulder is sore from the impact, a small scape from something on the bike on the inside of my right ankle. My left knee tried to take on the trail and lost. I'm missing most of the skin off of it. It's bruised, swollen and is forming a huge scab. It's making me walk a little funny, like I have arthritis.

So Sunday should be interesting. Hopefully I can do the ride. I think its going to end up being a practice in survival, definately not speed.
