An "easy" 2

Or a not so easy 2. More like bonking at 2 miles. Thanks to the fact it has been 9 months since I had run and 6 months since I had walked, I spent 5 months sitting in hospitals with the babies before they were able to come home and it was a ridiculously cold and snowy winter so even the thought of going outside for much was like torture, getting through 2 miles was a little rough. But man did it feel good.

I jogged down our hill and around a little ways to the junior high and did a mile at their track and then back home. It wasn't all at a jog, some of it was at a walk. But it felt good to be moving again. To see what my body can do now after so long without running, after carrying twins, a c-section, a hard winter, and the extra weight I'm still toting around as a result of all of the above.

Thanks to my husband who said he would watch the kiddos and encouraged me to get out the door on the first day it had been above 75 degrees since September.

Thank you

This is a link to a great list posted by a regular on the Runners World boards. LOVE it. Think this one will be getting printed off and put up somewhere where I can see it.

And now...we're back from our break

Well, here we are again. The snow is starting to melt, I can see patches of grass peaking out, the temperature has reached above freezing on more than one day in the last week. It's time...

The twins are here - they came ridiculously early but they're here. We spent the winter sitting in hospitals, but are all home now. No more excuses.

Chris was awesome and gave me a huge surprise of a new bike and a trainer that I was able to ride in the basement some and catch up on some tacky t.v. while he stayed upstairs with the kiddos. But I'm starting to see people going by my window on their runs. I envy them. I know that my run the first time will probably be mostly a walk with little jogging bursts. It's been 8 months since I've run. Yikes. But I can feel it building. I have new shoes for this year ready to go. We got a double jogging stroller so that when its a little warmer, the kids can go out with me. I'm ready.

So bring it on weekend - I"m ready for you and some messy puddles of melted snow. Game on.

Hiatus

So it's been a long time since I posted anything on here.

Since I'm not doing much more than walking now, and that's been pretty sporadic, I'm going to take a short leave from this. I will be back in a few months after the babies come. Then it will be time to figure out running and babies and running with babies as I try to meet my next goal - to complete the Ted E Bear Hollow 5k next year in 30 minutes. No small feat for someone that had twins couldn't run for almost a year.

Happy running!

I'm slow

Not "need a helmet" kind of slow. I'm just slow. And it's only going to get worse.

I walked yesterday morning. I met a lady coming from the other direction at the bottom of the hill and we both turned the same way but were on opposite sides of the street. She was walking fast. I was just walking. Pretty soon she was a good two blocks ahead of me. I'm slow. Really slow.

It really was hard for me to not run. When I got to this flat part of the street all I wanted to do was sprint.

But the babies and I will just save that for when they're in the jogging stroller. For now, I'm just slow.

Just a memory

So, now it's not just 'baby' we're having, it's babies. There are 2. Twins. Holy cow.

So, since there's 2, I've been told "no more running, no more mowing". I can walk. I can go for a relaxing bike ride. I can do my mommy yoga dvd's i got during the winter.

So, today I wondered the zoo for 2.5 hours with mom and Abby. I think that might be my new thing on the weekend. I can go early before there's lots of people, there's lots of places to sit down, lots of bathrooms, easy to access food and drink if I need it. These are all good things and it's early.

So, if some Saturday morning anyone is looking for me, try the zoo. I might be stopped looking at the new baby sea lion.

It's so hot but I don't care

I want ot run. It's supposed to be crazy hot today and all I want to do is run outside. I want to sweat in all the weird places that you don't think are supposed to - like when your forearm sweats.

When it's this hot outside, I used to get up at 5:00 in the morning and run before work to beat the worst of the heat and would still come home dripping. It was great.

I miss that. But for now, it's best for Joey and I to stay inside and get the heartrate up by yelling at the t.v. during the world series game.

Or I'll really have to try to get up before work and walk when it's at least a little cool.
