My run on Saturday was awesome.
I had to work late Friday night and got 4-5 hours of sleep. And it was out at a lake with trails around it that I'm not familiar with. These two things combined with the people that were there and looked totally hard core had me pretty well psyched out before the run even started. I was worried that I'd even be able to run the whole thing. Not to mention that it was cloudy, a little breezy and switching between misting and light rain.
But as we started running, I dound my pace, the crowd thinned out and I stayed with these two girls pretty much the whole time. I might even have creeped them out since I ran right behind them until we came around the last corner and I could see the finish. There was a couple times when I wanted to pass them but I didn't. I was trying to conserve a little so that I had enough to be able to run the whole thing. Then I turned on the jets and tried to sprint to the finish (or at least what I had left to get to the finish).
I had gone into the race saying I only wanted to beat my time by 5 seconds and I would be happy. As I crossed the finish line I looked up at the clock - 30:49.
That ROCKS!!! 3 weeks ago at my other race, it was 2:01 faster. I was so happy. Total runners high kicked in. In fact, I think its still hanging around a little bit. :)
