That's it...I'm doing it

I've done several bike rides around town in the past two years. Most were just for fun, one was an actual race. Somehow I managed to place in the top three of my age group for the race. Must have been because all the serious RAGBRAI people that are around here stayed home that morning (but I don't care - I'll take those bragging rights). I've done one run that was just for fun. Well this year, I'm going changing it up a little bit.

I'm signing up for my first official 5k race. It's in 3 weeks. So I got a lot of work to do. There will be mileage and a few sprints mixed in in my immediate future. The run is for a good cause. There's an after party with food, music, the usual. I don't have to win, I don't have to be in the top 10 or anything, I just have to finish. If I can finish in 30-ish minutes, running the whole thing, that's good enough for me. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous though. I've been bouncing back and forth on this for a good week.

But that's it, I'm doing it. I'm going to get over myself and just do it.

I sound a little like a Nike commercial.
